“in Hill’s series featuring Wyndham, Oklahoma, public librarian Juanita Wills. Juanita has two library assistants, Meador and Mavis, who are constantly feuding via a hilarious quotation war, and the members of her book club have to be some of the most intriguing people ever to discuss the classics. Of course, Juanita can’t help but indulge her taste for amateur sleuthing, much to the chagrin of her policeman boyfriend, Wayne Cleary. . . . This series bears watching, especially by library-loving mystery mavens.

Death Books a Return tells of Juanita Wills, a librarian in the heartland of the country who reads about the unsolved murder of a black high school student more than forty years ago. She begins to dig deeper, hoping to find the truth and bring some semblance of justice, if decades late. But there are those who prefer the past stay buried. . . . [A]n exciting mystery with a non-typical protagonist, highly recommended.

ABOUT THIS BOOK

Death Books a Return is a mystery novel featuring protagonist Juanita Wills, intrepid (aka nosy) public librarian in the small town of Wyndham, Oklahoma.

While researching local history, Juanita comes across the 1959 unsolved murder of a black teenager. But no one wants to dig up the past of buried secrets and broken love affairs that once entwined the citizens of Wyndham and the neighboring all-black village of Bryson’s Corner. When her only witness is poisoned, Juanita becomes more determined to bring the killer to justice, even if it puts her own life at risk, in this second in Hill’s Scrappy Librarian mystery series.
